It's the freakin' weekend, baby.

Ahh, Friday. It's nice to have a three day weekend every week. Although, my Humanities class is over next Thursday, so that's great. I cannot believe how fast five weeks have gone by already. I'm glad I was able to get 7 credits out of the way. I was supposed to take a science class at our local community college, but the lab got canceled so I was dropped from the class. Awesome. Although now I'm most likely going to have to take it at night while I student teach in the spring, I was kind of relieved. This allowed me to book flights for Florida two weeks earlier, and I didn't have to rush around like a madwoman. You win some, you lose some.

I bought the Fandango Groupon a few weeks ago with intentions of seeing Bridesmaids with my mom while she was in town. I'm not a huge movie fan, so it's rare that I agree to actually go to the movies. Between my inability to sit still, and the fact that people are obnoxious (talking, kicking the back of my chair, chewing their popcorn like a COW), it's just not my favorite pastime. Of course, we never found the time to go to the movies, so I ended up taking a friend. She had already seen it, but agreed to go again because she said it was hilarious. It was definitely funny, but I think perhaps people built it up to be greater than it actually was. Don't get me wrong, I was definitely amused, but I expected it to be funnier.

Also, can we just talk about how ridiculous movies and concessions are? Like I said, I bought my tickets with a Groupon, so that was a great deal (I believe $8 for two tickets). I was in the mood to munch on some popcorn. First of all, the prices weren't even listed (probably because they know they're outrageous and are trying to pull a fast one on us. Sorry, not happening). A medium drink and popcorn combo at Regal is $12. Um, no thank you. I'll go to Target after and get the same combo for $1.50 (I love their borderline-stale popcorn more than super saturated buttery popcorn anyways).

Afterward, we popped into the mall to check out the Victoria's Secret Semi-Annual sale. Our other mall barely had anything, and this mall has a bigger Pink section. Naturally, I got some underwear that I definitely DO NOT need (seriously, my underwear drawer doesn't close as it is. I may or may not have a sick obsession). Nothing too exciting.

I don't think I really have any plans for the rest of the night. Tomorrow, I'm hoping to meet up with my friend Kate, who I haven't seen in awhile and our old boss, Stacy (who is also a close family friend). She had an adorable baby girl seven months ago, and Kate has yet to meet her. So we're going to take a walk on the canal and get ice cream or coffee, weather permitting. According to my dashboard, it should be 82 and sunny tomorrow.

Tomorrow night, there's a free G. Love concert in the city, which should be fun. I think Kate and I are going to meet up with some of her friends for drinks beforehand.

What are you guys up to this weekend?

  1. I'm so glad there's someone else out there who doesn't care for movies. Everyone always thinks I'm crazy when I tell them I haven't seen a movie they've mentioned... but honestly, most movies bore me/put me to sleep, and the movies I DO like are ridiculous comedies, which probably just kill brain cells.
